After years of tight schedules and back-breaking work, wouldn’t it be nice to finally be able to sit back, look around, and breathe easy? To be able to lean back on your favorite rocking chair and relax in the comfort of your own home. But what if you’re suddenly thrust into a new place with scheduled TV time and a dozen white-haired people you barely know?
We’ve worked years to be able to build our home and fix it to fit our lifestyle and idiosyncrasies. And when we finally have time to enjoy it, we are suddenly faced with the possibility of being moved to a nursing facility. How unfair can that be? That’s why in home elder care services are becoming popular with the senior people nowadays.
With senior home care, we remain independent. We are free to do as we like without having to follow the rigid regulations of a nursing home facility. With the advent of modern technology, it has become easier for us to remain at home and still receive the specialized medical treatments we need.
Doctors, medical aides, companions, chore workers and nurses – their services are now included in senior home care. Anytime you need assistance, medical or otherwise, they can easily come to your home and help you out.
Financing has also become more flexible. Most of the time, senior home care services are covered by Medicare and/or Medicaid. Some insurance policies also cover in home care services. State and local governments also help by giving special funds to home health agencies. Then there are the private organizations and charitable institutions we can tap. Some agencies even have payment programs available to help us if we’re getting the money from our own pockets.
Now that in home elder care services are taking care of our needs, we now have the option to remain with near our children and their family. Or we can choose to live independently, maybe with a companion or a best friend, and receive senior home care instead.
Caring for you, their own family and themselves can put a big toll not just on your children but also on your relationship with them. At any time you could slip on the bathroom floor, forget to turn off the TV, or lose your eyeglasses. You can’t expect your children to always be there to look after you. Let’s be honest – we’re growing old. Our memory and coordination isn’t the same as years ago. And our children worry about us because of this.
By having senior home care, we are given the chance to spend the remaining part of our years relaxing in our own home, in close proximity with our loving family. Think about what you want for your future.
It is always a hard decision for families when it comes to retirement homes and facilities for their loved ones but senior home care services are usually more convenient for most people. Jen Parsens has done extensive research about this topic and knows there is an array of in home senior care services to choose from.
